Welcome to Thurber Farm Dog Boarding

Quality over quantity always!

Will be Temporarily Closed From
November 15, 2026 - March 1, 2027

Thurber Farm isn’t a typical dog boarding facility. It’s my home, my farm, and the space where I care for dogs the same way I care for my own.

I’m Mandy, and I started Thurber Farm in 2019 with a few chickens, some goats, and a full heart for animals. Over time, that turned into cows, a horse, and eventually this boutique boarding setup for dogs who don’t do well in loud, overcrowded facilities.

I live on the property and I personally care for every dog who stays here. I am a one women operation. This is not a high-volume kennel and it never will be. I have only four large indoor-outdoor kennels. I give each dog real attention, consistent routines, and a calm relaxing environment.

What makes this place special is not just the care, but also the location. My farm backs up to a 2,000-acre preserve. It’s quiet. There’s space. No constant barking. No chaos. Just fresh air, real grass, open pasture, and a peaceful pace.

Some dogs love wandering the big open pasture. Others just want a cool, comfortable place to nap and decompress. Some want an active adventure. I pay attention to each dog and what they need, not what’s easiest.

I always say a tired dog is a happy dog. My goal is to maintain a calm, happy environment. I use my best judgment when socializing dogs, and if I’m not confident in a dog’s temperament, they won’t be introduced to others. Safety and avoiding overstimulation are how I keep things calm and peaceful.

Thurber Farm is a place where your dog is treated like an individual, not a number, and cared for the way you would care for them yourself.

Cancellation policy

Because Thurber Farm Dog Boarding is intentionally limited to just four kennels, every reservation represents a significant portion of our availability. Once your dog’s stay is reserved, those dates are held exclusively for them, and I often have to turn away other families as we fill up.

Cancellations made more than 14 days before check-in:

Your reservation deposit is non-refundable, but no additional balance will be due.

Cancellations made within 14 days of check-in:

The full reservation balance is due. However, if I am able to rebook any of your cancelled nights, the amount recovered for those nights will be credited toward a future stay.

Early departures or shortened stays:

Because the kennel has already been reserved for the full stay, unused nights are non-refundable.

I completely understand that plans can change and unexpected things happen. This policy simply allows me to continue operating as a very small, personalized boarding facility while reserving each dog’s space exclusively for them. Thank you for understanding and supporting the intentionally small nature of Thurber Farm. ❤️
